This workshop explores creating pictorial quilt imagery that is surreal or could not exist in reality because of the use of scale or choice of subjects.  Emphasis will be given to creating art quilts that are rich in both concept and visual appeal.  Experience creativity exercises such as brainstorming and the pairing up of two unexpected or contrasting images.  Original pattern drawing and curved machine piecing will be taught in class.  However, the ultimate techniques used to create individual works will be chosen by the participants.

WORKSHOP POLICY

All workshops are on a first come - first paid basis. Payment must be made at the time of class sign-up. Workshops are open to all guild members. If a class is not full 45 days prior to taking place, it will be opened up to non-guild members. If the class has to be canceled, students will receive a full refund. If a student is unable to attend a class they will forfeit their class fee, unless they find someone to take their place. *The guild does the best it can to keep workshop costs affordable; however due to increased costs of travel, lodging, etc. upcoming workshop costs may increase.

Some guild members wonder how prices for workshops are determined. Here is the general breakdown:

1) the workshop fee

2) library rent

3) food for the teacher

4) travel costs and

5) accommodations

= the cost of the class divided by a planned number of 18 students per class.

Class registration can be completed at guild meetings or by mail. If you choose to mail your form - fill out the form and mail it to: Carol Olsen 8717 Potlatch Avenue NE, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110.  Mail payment made out to Kitsap Quilters and send to KQ Class Registration, PO Box 714, Poulsbo, WA 98370.
