Charities

Kitsap Cuddles ~

For each of the last few years we have donated over 250 quilts for children born at Harrison Memorial Birthing Center.  Guild members participate in a nation-wide effort to make quilts for ‘at-risk’ children.  These quilts can be of any design and should have flannel backing.  Quilts are 36" X 36" for newborns and 38" X 44" or larger, for infants and children. Patterns with instructions, or entire quilt kits including all materials to complete a quilt can be picked up at monthly guild meetings. Longarm services are also provided.     Detailed instructions

Doll Quilts ~

Kitsap Quilters have for several years made small doll sized quilts.  Dolls and stuffed animals are purchased or donated and each is wrapped in its own quilt.  These are given to needy children at Christmas and also provided to Children’s Protective Services to be given to children when a crisis arrives.  Thanks to your donations last year for children in crisis, we were able to distribute over 200 stuffed animals and dolls wrapped in quilts to four food banks in the area as well as Salvation Army and Kitsap County Child Protective Services.

Size: 12" x 12" up to 24" x 24" generally, but these are approximate measurements.

Fabric choices: any quilting type, and these do not have to have a batting, but may use flannel back.

Finishing: Quilting is fine, practice a new technique, but these may also be tied.

Just remember they do need to be child-safe, with no buttons or chewable pieces attached.

The quilts with their "babies" will be delivered with a ribbon and a card from the guild, so no label is necessary. Thank you for the kids in our community.

Hospice Quilts ~
