NANCY CHONG

CELTIC KNOTWORK APPLIQUÉ
Celtic Block

Learn how easy it is to do Celtic knotwork appliqué while making a gorgeous block or tablerunner.  Nancy’s designs appear to be intricate but are amazingly easy to sew using her stress-free hand appliqué methods.  You will learn how to make your own bias tape (without the use of bias bars), how to bend the bias tape to make crisp corners, and generally learn how much fun and relaxing this appliqué project is.  All levels of experience welcome, even beginners.

Process class making 5 samples...4 on a quilt sandwich, one on fabric only

Sensational Sashiko
This is a non-traditional approach to a traditional needle art form. My
theory is that if it can be done by hand, it can be done by machine and sashiko is no exception. Originating as the "common" man's garment decoration, sashiko has been adopted by quilters to add exciting designs to their quilt tops and garments. Using your sewing machine and heavy weight threads learn how to achieve this stunning embellishment on either a single thickness of fabric or through a quilt "sandwich".

Piping Hot Curves

Windows class description:

Add piping to curves and avoid curved piecing! This technique is wonderful for traditional curved patterns and great for contemporary designs. In class, students will learn to make perfect piping and add that piping to perfect circles for this sophisticated application of the Piping Hot Curves technique. Piping adds pizzazz! Quilting and finishing will be discussed. SUPPLY LIST

Piping Hot Binding

Piped bindings add spark and a professional finish to any style piece. Every detail of binding and tiny, perfect piping will be covered in class with step-by-step demos and printed instructions. Machine differences will be addressed so students will be successful with their own machines. Students work on their practice piece to achieve making perfect piping, preparing the quilt, applying binding, mitering corners, joining tails, and finishing for a show-quality back. Variations will be on display and discussed. Many major award-winners are using this technique to achieve stunning results!

Designing With Circles

TWO DAYS   $70.00

This 1,2,3, or 5 day class allows participants to use their collection of special fabrics with  circle unit format.  In this class you use circles on pieced triangle background blocks to create mystery in your designs by learning to recognize and control fabric textural lines.  Construction involves simple piecing and hand or machine appliqué.  These  quilts offer an opportunity to use either a wonderful fabric collection or one great fabric.
